Should you record a demo or generate one?
Record a demo when a person needs direct control of the session. Generate a demo when a reachable web app can show one repeatable task from a clear start to a visible result, and someone can review the candidate before it is used. The decision is not between careful work and automatic work. Both paths need preparation and a human who owns the final claim.
Manual recording lets the operator respond to unusual states as they happen. It can be the better fit for a route with unpredictable timing or an interaction that requires precise judgment. The cost is the recording session, retakes, and later editing. Generation moves recording and editing into a URL plus hint workflow, but it does not remove the need to prepare the state or inspect what came back.
| Decision factor | Manual recording | Generation from a URL |
|---|---|---|
| Who drives the route | A person | The tool, from a URL and hint |
| Best fit | Irregular or high control paths | Prepared, repeatable web tasks |
| Main preparation | Rehearse the session | Test the route and safe data |
| Main review | Recording and edit | Candidate, narration, and route |
